With a recent bill aimed at rezoning the city’s Francisville section which lies north of Fairmount and south of Temple. The rezoning would shift from the current RM-1 which allows for multi-family buildings, to RM-5 which limits the area to single family dwellings. At the meeting Rahil Raza argued:
“The life that is being brought into many of these Philadelphia neighborhoods, along with resources and energy…would be devastated by passing this bill,” said Raza. “Downzoning would drastically reduce foot traffic and economic opportunity….”
Unfortunately the bill passed through, forcing developers or owners to go through the challenge of requesting a variance.
